How to Use This Site

NOTE: If you are using a public computer to access this site, please click the "Sign Out" button at the top right of the page. This site does not have an automatic "timed out" feature.
How do I get permanent email?
This feature is a forwarding service, so you must have an existing email account in order to use it. For example, if your email account is with yahoo, yourname@alumni.stjohnscollege.edu forwards email to youraccount@yahoo.com. If your email account is with hotmail, yourname@alumni.stjohnscollege.edu forwards email to youraccount@hotmail.com.
To sign up for the service, go to your personal page on the online community and click on the link labeled "permanent email" on the right-side menu. There you will choose any prefix that you like for the new email address (
________@alumni.stjohnscollege.edu) as well as provide the email address to which you want mail forwarded. Once you have signed up, it will take up to 30 minutes to activate the service.
How do I join a group?
Go to the group homepage, on the center menu, click "Join Group." Join as many as you like!
How do I edit my profile?
Go to your personal page, on the right-side menu, click "edit profile."
How do I conduct a member search?
Click on "Member Search" on your left navigation bar. Choose your search criteria, (keeping in mind the more search factors you select, the more narrow your result pool) and click "search" at the bottom of the page.
How do I post a picture?
Click on "My Photo Album" in the upper right menu entitled "My Profile Options." Click "upload new photo" on the center toolbar. Choose whether you want to post to your class album or your personal album. To select a photo from your computer's files, click "browse." Click "submit."
How do I post a class note?
From your class homepage, click "post note" from the center toolbar. Click "submit" at the bottom of the page.
How do I send a bulk e-mail to my classmates?
Go to your personal webpage, on the right-hand side of the page under "My Class" click "e-mail my classmates." This will give you a blank e-mail form that when you click "submit" after writing your e-mail will go to all registered members from your class. Be sure to indicate in your subject line that the email is affiliated with the St. John's College Online Community to avoid it being disregarded as spam.
If you are having trouble logging in ...
Your cookies may not be enabled and are blocking your access to the site. To enable your cookies, open your browser, go to "tools," "options," "privacy," make sure your settings within the privacy tab are set to "medium."
If your cookie settings are fine, then be sure that you when you login, you are putting your username and password in the very leftmost corner of the entry box. If there is an extra space, the database will read that as a character and deny you entry.

The St. John's College Online Alumni Community is intended to bring school friends together and to provide an easy way for alumni to stay connected with the school. We will not sell the information in this website to marketers or any other parties.
To ensure privacy, alumni register themselves and enter as much, or as little, information as they wish. Only after a registrant is verified by the Alumni Office as a legitimate user do they have access to the alumni database.
"Spamming" of registrants is prohibited. If you receive inappropriate e-mail from a registrant, please notify the alumni office immediately.
These measures make it difficult to abuse the information on this site. However, St. John's shall in no way be liable for any losses or damages suffered because of use or misuse of the site. The policies above are considered accepted when using this website.
